450 charging

Can someone help me identify my charging problem? Shows it to be discharging, but it will run a long time on a charge in the battery. Before i start throwing parts at it can someone tell me how to trouble shoot it? Thanks Greg

do you have a multimeter? read the voltage across the battery terminals with- key off, key on, key on and running hi idle. the voltage should be highest running hi idle. check belt tension and look for obvious things like corroded connections, loose wires, bad switch etc.then go from there. find a schematic to make things easier. good luck.

Work through my Troubleshooting Procedure may help. It can show of its a Genny or a Voltage regulator problem (Para 5) and also has the Motor Test to check the gennys condition.
