super a overhaul

having a problem finding an overhaul kit that doesnt say to sn310299. my sn is 310981, did they change something that wont make the kits on this site work?? any help appriciated

Gene is correct, but you only have two choices, both with larger sleeves than the standard 3 inch those are either 3.125 or 3.25. The 3.25's will only fit if the block part number is 354898, the others take the 3.125 sleeves. I don't fully trust this site as to serial numbers, and do my own research. Be sure you get the head gasket with the large holes. The SA has a thermosiphon cooling system, the Super A1 has a water pump and smaller holes in the head gasket. If your tractor has had a water pump added, either gasket is ok.

Measure the diameter at the oring as gene said, in case someone has messed with your engine. A lot about this is in the archives, mostly correct, if you would care to read them.

yeah - I'll second that comment about not trusting serial numbers listed by parts suppliers. Not just on this site, but most others too.

I'm doing a super A and have come across a surpising amount of contradicting serial number info.

If you're in doubt - talk to whoever you're buying it from first - Most places have somebody on site that's more knowledgeable than their catalog/site info would make them look.

As been suggested measure your old sleeves. Should be one of these measurements. Hal

3-7/16" dia. at the seal by 7-1/16" in length

3-5/16" dia. at the seal by 6-7/8" in length

ive heard also that OEM parts, the O rings mike bigger than some of the other parts places, witch will seal better.
