Super M wide frt end

I am working on a front end problem on a stage 2 super M. The steering pulls hard to the right but I haven"t yet figured out why. The sector gear in the top of the bolster is tight and there is no slop. I measured the tires last fall thinking they may be toeing out causing the pull in the steering but they were well aligned. I have not yer removed the front end to inspect the bearing and bushings inside the bolster. Attached are pictures of the front end which I believe is a factory IH unit. It"s much heavier than the other wide front ends I"ve seen on two other Ms. If you look closely where the plate bolts to the frame, the steel is cut with a torch. Is this front end from a later series tractor and mated to this super m? The steering arm was broken at some time and rewelded. It looks straight but this may eventually be the source of the steering problem and I may be chasing my tail looking elsewhere. The tractor has a loader on it so I"d really like to get the steering sorted out.

If it is a power steering, jack up the front end and see if the wheels turn to the right, otherwise switch the front tires. Is the caster OK on both sides?

Apologies for the photos. The torch cut sections are directly behind where the loader mounts to the frame rails (green in these pictures). Maybe they were cut to accommodate the loader (?). Any ideas on how to proceed are appreciated. Also any photos of the bolster internals would be appreciated. I do have access to the parts manual. Thanks.

It is not power steering. The measurements on the front wheels seemed OK (to me). Center to center was the same front and back. There is supposed to be some toe in? If so how much? There was no measurable toe out.

There should be some toe in, about 1/8 to 1/4 depending on how good of shape the tie rod ends are in.

I jack up the wheels and scribe a line in the dust on the tire with a screwdriver while I rotate the tire. You can then get a precision measurement.

Make sure the bearings are good and have a little preload while the wheels are jacked up.

Might be "off base" but does the right side of the tractor have MORE weight on it/front loader have MORE weight on that side??????? COULD effect the way it is "pulling" right?

I cannot see how it would. There is no bucket on the loader and the assembly is pretty much symmetrical. When I say it pulls to the right, I mean if I let go of the steering wheel it will do donuts all by itself. It would have to be a lot of weight to pull this hard.

Ok,

My NEXT answer is the the front axle is not paralell with the rear axle then.(For some reason???

Check your wishbone link at the front for "bent".(Could be???) Bent at stay rod socket???(unlikely).

If the upper bolster shaft was EXCESSIVELY worn in its bushings,it could allow the part that the tie rod ends fasten to favor one side??? (Probably not.doubt that guess)

My next guess and I really think this is it.You have a bent spindle or down tube it rides in is not at correct angle. And YES,you CAN have toe in measure correctly AND STILL have a bent spindle, and,or tube not quite straight.

If I could actually see this thing in person,It would have to be kinda obvious. (Hard to dianose things from "the chair" here.)For a slow moving vehicle like this to pull like you say. Something is out BAD!!!!
