My 1946 International A smokes a bit. If I change rings, do I need to change sleaves too. How can I tell is sleaves might be needed too?

You may be able the hone the sleeves. My preference is to replace the sleeves, pistons and rings, and at least check the main and rod bearings for clearance.

The sleeves are probably worn too. A new sleeve kit will make it like a new engine. Have the crankshaft measured for wear and buy your bearings from that auto machine shop. Hal
PS: If you decide to buy a new sleeve kit measure the overall length and diameter of your old sleeves at the seal before ordering.

Several things to look at. How worn are the sleaves, How hard are you going to use this tractor,and how well healed is your billfold. We can give you all kinds of suggestions but only you can make the final decision.

The engine in this Farmall A was stuck and a lot of work and a new sleeve kit made it run like new. Needed tires, rims, wiring, steering wheel, battery and seat. This was in 1975 & 1976. Hal
