6 volt system and i'm getting a clicking noise at the starter.she turns over but only a couple of times and the battery seems to have plenty of charge. All the connections are clean and tight including the ground. Should I take the switch off the starter and check the connections in there next?

Turn on the lights. While watching the lights, start the tractor. While it is cranking, the lights should be better than 50% bright. If they dim way down, the battery could be bad (you indicate it is OK, but high amp draw can be an issue for starting. If the battery is good, the starter is drawing radical amps. Internal shorts to ground, bad bearings allowing the armature to drag on the field poles, are prime causes. If the lights stay pretty bright, the brushes could be wornout, or a bad starter switch could be causing poor contact. Jim

Remove the starter and get it refreshed when its off turn the engine over slow with a crank and observe the teeth on the flywheel as they do get bad as the engine will stop at almost the same place. You will also probably need to replace the saddle sw and clean the button on the starter. With everything in good repair it will last for many more yrs of service. Just think its lasted for over 60 now.
