Any ideas on where to find one? This one has the pipe coming out at the front near the #1 exhaust port rather than in the middle as on the row crop.

Failing that, suggestions on brazing the broken one I have would be welcome.

Well... Its available new from the dealer for only $700!! part number 400349R1. Start calling some salvage yards id say, or get out the brazing rod perhaps?

Heh. One suspects that they don't actually have any (but I'll modify the gas tank before I'll pay that in any case. Side exhaust 544?) Thanks for the part number, though.

Been doing that for weeks. No luck so far. That's why I posted here.

Brazing a large, complex casting is nontrivial, to say the least. First step would be constructing a temporary forge large enough to heat it. I'm also trying to find a local welder willing (and able) to take on the job.

Depending how tough of shape it is, bring it to a tech school or Ag-Ed shop. I have preheated them in an oven and then used the oven to slowly cool them back down. Sometimes you need to wrap them in a blank to slow down the cooling even more.

Or maybe you could modify a vertical with elbows and such and go on the outside of the hood, Like the older Case models do. Its a thought...

If you can weld at all nickle rod for cast iron will work very well!! Just don't try to well it to quick! 1/4" to 3/8" and peen till barely hot and repeat! Once whill pushing 10 to 15 12" ash trees at once one snaped off and took the right side muffler off the HD 21 with a 12-71 detroit! Removed manifold and hung muffler with chainfall tacked, ground, and welded 1/4 3/8" at a time held forever!! Chimmney from a house got the left side and not so simple, only found 13 pices missing a couple!! Got a retired pro welder to do that one same methoid and held forever!! Bud.

Not the right part, unfortunately. That's for a row crop. My utility needs the manifold with the pipe coming out all the way up front.

I'm very reluctant to try that with this very complex casting. If I have to do it myself I think I will rig a forge and braze it hot (and then cool it in sand).

I might have one laying in the shop. Do you know the part # ? Mine came off an Int 664 utility (same engine as a 544). This one is for underneath exhaust. I replaced it with a verticle exhaust manifold.

I don't have a part number but it's vertical exhaust with the pipe coming out way to the front rather than in the middle as on the row crop 544. By underneath exhaust do you mean that the pipe comes out the side or bottom of the manifold? Could you send pictures? Maybe I could convert.

Yes, this one has the exhaust coming out the rear bottom. (which is why I changed it to one that came out the top for exhaust through hood).
