cub update, again

There was a crack where the fuel line comes into the carb in front of the needle and seat, allowing fuel to flood the carb. Sealed it up, hopefully it will run right once it sets up! Thanks for the help.

Please replace the fuel line. Even if you cut and splice in a small section with compression fittings. The use of sealant on cracked fuel lines is just not best practice. Trying it to see if it fixes it is OK, but please realize it will fail and there is fire danger. Jim

BE aware that searching for a new carb right now (or an upper housing) is a good idea. Rusty Farmall sells and rebuilds carbs. He is a reliable source, and posts on here quite often. Jim

Over the years there have been several tragedies with gasoline fires on tractors. I wouldn't fool around with a patch job.

That wont do anything to the carb it will just leak as that leak does not affect the carb. The mixture happens inside of the carb. You can make a new line using brake tubing you will need a couple of fittings for the ends. You can also get two fittings and then use rubber hose made for gas. Ive been using it for many yrs on a couple of tractors.

As others have already stated, this is a serious fire risk. The carb is attached to a manifold that consistantly operates at high tempuratures. If enough gas comes into contact with the manifold, you could lose your whole tractor or more if you park it inside.

I'm not inclined to get spun up over an internally leaking carb. It's no worse than having one with a stuck float or a gasket of the discharge tube leaking. If you were able to get the JBWeld to fix the leak, then I'd press on. If not, and you look to replace the top, be aware that the carbs design changed over the years and you can't just mix and match parts. You'll need the same exact top you have now.
