We just got an international 244-54 tractor. I need to know if you check the hydraulic fluid with it running or not. And how can you tell if it is low? If any one can please help me I will be very thankful.

Our problem is we do not recognize that model number. No 2XX tractors were built in 54, and none have a hyphen in the model if it is as posted. A picture will work, or a different number, Jim

It is a IH case tractor. It says that the model # is 244-54 and it was made in 1982. Its an international harverster. a picture of it can be found on the web site external_link

Thanks for all your help......

There is no listing for a 244-54 on external_link.

There is a 244, which is a compact tractor made by Mitsubishi in Japan and painted IH red.

Tractors are not automatic transmissions. You check the fluid levels with the tractor OFF. There should be a dipstick on a tractor that new. The dipstick should be marked "FULL" and "ADD." If it's not at the "FULL" mark, add fluid until it is.
