Farmall 100 front wheels/rims

Okay, confused again. Working with front wheels and rims from 100 - 56 model and from Super A - 52 model. New tires, cleaned and painted wheels and rims; but I don't "like" the way they were mounted. Even the photo in yesterday's tractor parts manual (pag 195) does not match what I see when I look at my rims.

Only one way to put the wheel on. So, I have that down pat. However, how should the rims go on and is the valve stem to the inside of the tractor or to the outside?

Thanks.

PS: Any close-up photos?

One good thing with the stem inside there is a less chance of it snaging on something. You know how to drive it, but do others? Sons

The way I see it, there may be 4 options for installing the rims:
1. Valve stem out - rim bolted to front of wheel.
2. Valve stem out - rim bolted to back of wheel.
3. Valve stem in - rim bolted to front of wheel.
4. Valve stem in - rim bolted to back of wheel.

What really has me baffled is that there is a "slotted" area around each bolt hole. The slotted area faces the tractor.

However, the slotted area seems to be a "nice" place for the clamps on the rims.

Related question: Rims are adjustable. Should center-to-center of front tires be same as center-to-center of rear tires?

Farmall gurus, please come to the rescue.

Thanks.

OK, sounds like you have adjustable rims. Mount them whichever way you want them or need them for what you are going to do with the tractor. But from all your description, it is unclear whether you have the right wheel centers. To match, the wheels can't have a flange for the rim to rest against.

If you have matching parts and no need othewise, I'd suggest mounting the rims with the stems out and the lugs on the outside of the wheel centers.

IMHO, inside-to-inside wheel measurements should match front and back. That way if you're plowing or cultivating, wherever you run the inside edge of your front wheel is EXACTLY where the back wheel is going.

The wheels you have are meant to be adjustable width, mostly for the narrow front tractors. Mount them however you think LOOKS best. Some people like the look of the tabs on the outside, others like how the tractor looks with the entire wheel hub showing.

Atch is a photo of what I went ahead and did. This is the way the rims and wheels were mounted before I removed them.

What caught my attention were the "slots" on the rear of the wheels. Seemed that these slots were designed for the "tabs" of the rims???
