Goodmorning Gentlemen.

My brain is wandering around again(as usual lol)
(We all know the story of the 3 point patent rights.)When/what year did aftermarket 3 point kits become available for the Hs and Ms???

Also,I hear of companys that made adapters for the Fasthitch to put them on the Ms???(Like I see some guys have built them on here.) Did like M&W ,or some company make such a kit????

A company in Ault,Co.(Heberlien Mfg.) started makeing 3 points in the '50s.there were others,I sure.I'm sure a few 'innovative' farmers made them, too, maybe even earlier.M/W did make a kit to install a fasthitch on an M.

Yes, it probably was sometime in the '50s when the original Ferguson 3 point patent expired.

I think Ferguson made a big mistake by not selling manufacturing rights to the Ferguson system way back when.

Did you mean" IH made a mistake by not selling
rights to the fast hitch"?John Deere approached IH
about purching rights to the fast hitch for JD
tractors.IH told JD to "get f@#$@d"!"The fasthitch
will remain exclusive IH"!JD then went to
Ferguson...

I like learning new stuff!

I would do the cool thing and put Fasthitch on my Super M,but I am way to fond of my U bar to have to take it off.I like pulling with my drawbar.

You can pull from a drawbar adapter with a fasthitch or 3 pt.

You make a good point, and the IH fast hitch was an awesome invention, but I still feel that if Ferguson had sold the manufacturing rights to the 3 point way back in the '40s, then there would have been no need for the IH 2 point hitch, or the Allis Chalmers Snap-Coupler, or the JI Case Eagle claw hitch.

IH in the UK (England) had a 3 point linkage for the Framall BM very early on. It used the standard Farmall M belly pump to supply the oil to the cylinders on each side. Required 3 holes to be tapped into the top of the back of the transmission case to take the top link anchorage. I will have to see if I can scan the pictures from the manual.

THAT IS COOL!!!

I think you fellows"across the pond" got those before us!!!!!

What year was that????

Please send it to me !!!!

ADAPTER!!!! WTF???

I know Damn well how a Fasthitch works!

I guess you can pull from a log chain tied around the front lower bolster too????
Do you even read these post???( I like my drawbar.)

Thge ORIGINAL question WAS WHEN DID 3 POINT AFERMARKET HITCHES COME OUT !!!!

Just answer that,if you can????

This is the British 3 point hitch for Farmall M. From manual dated August 1952

This used the usual drawbar and braces as well as swinging drawbar, the supports were replaced together with the hydraulic cylinders etc.

Hey whats the big deal, overall an interesting subject considering that the 3 point is still being made today and the "Fast Hitch, Snap Coupler and Eagle" all failed for different reasons. Now I'll be the first to say that I know little about the Eagle hitch but the Snap Coupler with the dangers of the front mount breaking while being used (you can tell me all day about being properly maintained but most of the farmers in the day were hacks as mechanics). Then here comes IH with the fast hitch.....where you have to buy IH implements. Case in point, BIL's father was a die hard IH tractor man. He hated the fast hitch system cause he had no problems buying implements from different companies and demanded the ability to shop around. He had 3 560's with he Fast Hitch and no fast hitch implements, none, zero, zip. A lot of farmers in the late 50's, 60's and early 70's were very independent and hated to be told anything! He also had an 826. He had an adapter to allow him to use 3 point stuff on the fast hitch system. Only used one 560/fast hitch implement, a JD cultivator with the adapter. He had drawbar plows and disk for the 560's. When he got the 826 new he bought a lot of 3 point stuff and never looked back!
