806 power steering pump

Tractor poor

New User
My 806 did not have any steering, based on my manual trouble shooting, it was the power steering pump. I replaced the pump & refilled with oil, but the tractor is still without any steering. I was wondering could I have air in the lines? What further things can I do to get he power steering working?
Thanks

I do not know. I talked with several mechanics and gave them the symptons. it would take a minute or two after the tractor was running for the power steering to work, and it got progressively worse, until it did not work at all no matter how long I let the tractor run. So based on their advice I replaced the pump.

I lost steering in mine last summer while haying. Took it to the local mechanic and found out it was just a plugged filter (old oil with water in it from when I had bought it used). Changed the filter and oil and all is fine again.

Ok ya replaced the pump , did you get a new pump or were you being cheap and get a used pump?? Did you loose the sump check plug spring ??? That little spring that looks like it is from a ball point pen?? that goes behind the MCV down in the lower right hand coroner ?? Did you remove and inspect all the valves in the MCV for free movement ?? did you measure the free length of all the springs or get a spring kit and replace them ?? did you replace all GSKT's and O/Rings ?? Did you check pressures ?? Did you add and extra five gallon of Hy Tran . And the big question here do you have atleast a I T manual to read ??

If you replaced the pump could be it is not working because it has not primed even if it is full of oil. I always fill one with 90 weight Gear oil in as many holes or ports as I can and it works every time. The little bit of gear oil will not affect the hydraulic oil.
