My 460 IH has rust particals in tank flushed it alot. Still plugs up fuel lines. How do i build a stand pipe. I already took sediment bulb off and put a ball valve in for a shut off.

Put the sediment bowl back on. It traps sediment (aka rust) Roll up a piece of metal window screen and shove it in the hole of the sediment bowl. This will be a coarse particle screen before your sediment bowl.

Steiner tractor sells a standpipe screen that that fits in the top of your sediment bowl inlet, for $8.50.i have one on my M.

Drain the tank. Count out 100 assorted nuts and bolts. Put them in the tank with 1 gallon of diesel fuel. Reinstall gas cap. Hook up a temporary tank (safely, of course) to your tractor. Strap the gas tank to the wheel. Jack up said wheel until it is 2" off the ground. Set the axle on sturdy blocks so the tire is well off the ground. Start the tractor. Idle in 1st gear for an hour or so. Stop tractor. Empty the tank. Rinse with a gallon of fresh diesel. Live happily ever after.

Worked for my H.

Again, safety first. If you do something dumb, it's your fault.

ps Put the sediment bowl back on. Otherwise your problems will move to the carb.

Remove sediment bowl assembly and install a 1 inch long piece of copper pipe in the top of the sediment bowl assembly and don't forget it will run out of gas a little early but it worked great on my super H. Over three yrs and no problems.

I rolled a spare gas bowl screen up like a cigarette and placed it inside the bowl fitting. It stands 1" tall in tank and has solved my problem. Been there for 2 years now.

after you follow all these good suggestions,
placing a couple of powerful magnets on the bottom
of the tank away from the outlet some,
will grab the rust floating around.
I break apart old speakers to get those
nice round, flat ones.
stick em on and spray some tank color on them
and no one notices them.
