Working with paint runs!! help!

I am repainting a farmall 400,which i painted most of the sheetmetal yesterday. I used 2150 with hardner and smoothie and put 4 coats of paint on. It looked perfect,i could see myself in the paint. I went inside and came back out and i noticed a good sized "thin run" in the same spot on each of the hood panels.I tryed flipping the panels up the other way so the runs would possibly work there way back out.. It didnt work. Is it posssibly to buff or rub out these runs? or am i going to have to resand and redo the whole thing? You can't see them looking straight at the piece, but when u glare at it in the light on an angle, they really show up! They are very "thin" runs meaning they do not stick up and you cannot feel them..but they are probably 4 inches long. Will rubbing compound work,or would i just be wasting my time? if i do buff, how long should i wait before putting that on new paint?? Thanks for any advise!

After the paint is dry you should be able to buff the runs out pretty easily if they are not very high. 3M makes a compound just for that and if you are good with a buffer you can blend it in quite nicely. If you need more paint you should be able to do so right after buffing as long as you make sure all the compound is off. I worked in an aircraft paint shop and that is how we did it.

You may have to wet sand it then buff. You need a good rotary buffer, not a dual action one. You may or may not be able to blend it in. Sometimes it is faster to sand the runs out with 400, then sand the whole thing and reshoot.

Any auto parts store that sells paint should have it or be able to get it quick. It's proper name is- Perfect-It 111 Extra Cut Rubbing Compound made my 3M and will work with any paint.
