DEGREEING FARMALL 400

I need some help. I’m installing a reground camshaft in a Farmall 400 and want to degree the engine at the same time.
Question, since there is no oil pressure because the oil was removed to get at the camshaft, how many times can the crankshaft be turned without ruining the bearings?
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Since the pan is off just shoot oil on each side of the mains with a can every so often so it will run down on them for saftey. Probably would be okay anyway if turning by hand. Or the side oil gallery plug could be removed and pressured some. Guess I should have said lube both the mains and rods by a hand oiler.

I really dont know how to respond with out sounding like a smart-alek, but since you are degreeing the engine, why I dont know, you should know to use some sort lube on the camshaft before installing it.

How many times are you going to turn it over? Heck, They will run a few minutes with no pressure & not hurt anything if they are lubed to begin with.

I'm figuring on one or two times to get TDC. Then one or two times to get the lobe correct. Then have to set the lash.

Yea,relax dude! ;)

If you have everything in assembly lube, degree away!!!! (You wont hurt it just rolling the engine over.
