hi i have a farmall 350 row crop that needs a iner axel bearing on the left side can i replace it without removeing the transmison cover i have an idea by removing the pto houseing and unhookig the bull gear you can remove the axel housing this has anyone done this any tipps thanks tom ih54

You can do it on an H so I would ASSUME the 350 is the same. I can't picture getting the bull gear back on the axle shaft. That job sucked when I had the top off!

We did that on an H with a mounted 24 picker on it, out in the corn field, back in the day. Big job, but it can be done. (At least you won't have to remove the picker's elevator before you start.) When you removed the axel bolt on the bull gear & jockey the bull gear around, be careful, the cage that keeps the bearing for the counter shaft on the brake can break easily. You can fish stray parts out of the bottom of the housing through the drain hole with a magnet and I would suggest you get all you can out before you take the bull gear off. Any stray balls & miscellaneous cage parts can cause you a lot of grief when you work on removing the bull gear from the axel. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

I just did that on my Super M on both axles--with the top off. I simply put bolts under the gears, and pulled the axles out. Ok as long as I remembered to remove them.
