My Son and i made the voyage to Nova Scotia today and found a pair of tires and the Farmall M i was talking about last week. Its going to need some work to get it mobile, buts thats what this hobby is all about. The serial number is FBK 140085XI. What does this all mean? Thanks Kent

As I read the list that makes it a 1947 and the X1 means it was originally equipped with a high compression gasoline engine that had a little more power than the kerosene and distillate versions and did not have the starting tank, shutters, fancy manifold, extra hole in hood etc.

Speaking of M's. Mine sat at my FIL's all winter. I went over today with my son and SIL to bring it home. While the son was dumping gas in it I hit the starter to see if the battery was still charged...darned thing fired right up.

Shutters were an option and could be on any model if ordered ours came with them in 49 and was a gas model also had the glass precleaner.

The tractor looks a lot better in your pictures than it did in the add. I'm glad I never went to see it because it probably would have followed me home and the last thing I need is another project. That's a good looking set of tires as well, don't know of any 12.4x38's about? I'm looking for a set for a Super H. Good luck with the M. Sam

What he said, but I have heard some were stamped X1 if they were rebuilt with gas components. They didn't necessarily come from the factory that way.*

Glad that you were able to rescue it. Please keep us updated as you get her sorted out. It seems that the wide fronts were very popular in this area years ago as they frequently still show up.

There is a decent looking H near Debert on kijiji that is tempting as well.
