933 3-speed

I purchased a 966 with 3-speed. I was told it's a 1566 transmission which was put in for loader work because of wider gears. Has anyone ever seen this or heard of this?

That would be an unusual thing to do on purpose.

More likely, a good 966 front end was joined with a good 1566 rear end because the 966 had a bad transmission and the 1566 had a bad engine. That's fairly easy to do because they just bolt together.
