4H rake update

I said in an earlier post that I'd put some newer pictures of the 4H rake up - we're still working on it Most parts are painted, and we're starting to assemble.

The nuts and bolts will be touched up after assembly - figured that'd be easier.

The reel and teeth are supposed to be blue, so we kept all that separate for now and they need one or two more good coats to get all the spots we missed the first time.

Should all be done real soon - then it's back onto the super a project.

I'm a bad dad.

My daughter just yelled at me for posting a picture with her in it. She wants me to point out that she's wearing tights and her legs aren't really that white...

... so - since I'm sure everybody was laughing at her white legs - ... there you have it.

Great job!

It's going to be great when it's done. I bet you are going to have one of the nicest old IH rakes still on it's wheels.

Yeah...wasn't laughing at her legs

The thousands of readers will just believe she is showcasing the rake, (beautiful by the way) and pay little attention to other details. Jim

Funny thing is - I chose that picture because it showed the whole rake in its true color.

In the only other full rake picture I had (the last one) the rake looks very orange in the sun lit area. It's a trick of the camera. So I was afraid people would laugh at our orange rake, must be genetic : )

Thanks. The kids have been working hard on this and deserve all the credit.

It really does look nice, and almost seems a shame to put it into use. But that's what it's there for.

Our club just got access to small hay field on a town owned farm property, and my goal is to gather together the equipment for a small club-owned haying operation, that can stay at or near that farm, and be maintained by the kids.

But if we get the tractor done in time, they'll at least be able to show this rake off in the memorial day parade.

Enjoy the time you have with her she will soon grow up and be out of your house.
My daughter lives way out west in WA and I get to see her maybe once every 5 or so years. And I have only seen most of my grand kids once. But I can say this past summer I had 2 of my grand kids playing on my grand fathers old tractor

I think you need a Super A so you can recreate the shot from the book.

The only thing I will warn you about when it comes to using it is hoops can be broken if you push it to hard and they're NLA. I bet you could make your own with a form and some time though.

Up until 1996 or so the one I have was the main working rake on the farm! Pair it out with a JD 14T, a 4 basket Kuhn tedder and a 2 point sickle bar mower on the 200 and that's how hay was made here.

Yeah - we had to weld together three of four of the stripper loops that came to us broken.

We have a big supply of extras on the parts rake anyways. (got the parts rake after we welded the broken strippers)

And we ARE working on a super A to pull this - so yes, we will have to get a good picture of the two from the same angle as the book picture!
