Im hooking up a gas gauge on my farmall 560, there are only two wires on the back...no matter witch way I hook them up it pegs to the full position every time. Am I hooking it up wrong or its not grounded.....anyone no what the problem is?
Thank you!!

Couple of things here. First off you need to determine for sure which post on the gauge is the battery side and other one to sender. Most have a letter marking on them like batt or S. Some gauges have a little ground tab on back that contacts mounting bracket. You can just run a ground test lead to gauge housing for testing purposes. Next, there are two types of fuel gauges used. One reads full on a completed circuit to ground with sender and the other reads full on an open or very high resistance circuit to ground. So, take the sender out of the tank, hook it up to gauge, run a test ground lead from mounting surface of sender and then move float up and down. If you have correct one it will read full when up and empty when down. If wrong one for your gauge it will read opposite.
