Got the loader on the SH!

Got the Koyker SuperK on the Super H this last weekend. Tractor has M&W live hydraulics and I mounted a 3 spool valve so I can have an outlet to the rear of the tractor for implements or a 3pt at some point. Added a second set of wheel weights to rear too!

I do have one question about the valve. I believe its a Gressen; 3 spool as I said. The farthest left lever does not spring back to center as the others do. I bought it used...is there something wrong with that one? Thanks!

Chances are you only need the spring kit that is behind the rubber cap at the far end of the spool. Those parts can be ordered from a hydraulic shop.

Or you could remove the kit from a "springy" spool and see if you can make those parts. Take the cap off the dead spool to see what is missing. If the cup is not there, go with the Gressen parts.

The second set of weights is an excellent addition. It is something that MOST folks do NOT do, but should. Not only does the tractor gain traction, but it also gains a bunch of stability.

If you will be carrying some heavy loads in the bucket, you might want to consider the addition of a couple of "trusses" to strengthen the center section of the H. I don't have any pictures to show you an example. Maybe someone else does?

A word to the wise from someone who has spent many hours on an H with a loader and a narrow front: NEVER DRIVE OR MAKE A TURN WITH A LOADED BUCKET WHEN YOU CAN SEE UNDER THE BUCKET! When you are using the loader always keep the bucket down when its loaded so the center of gravity stays low. When you get to where you need to dump, stop & then raise the bucket. You will lose some time, but never your life by upsettting the tractor if you follow this advice. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

That could be a "float" position. You would use it for a front or rear blade when you want the blade to scrape the surface and not dig in.

Another comment - you probably already know this but you've got more loader than you have tractor to run it with.

Definitely NOT a float. He said it doesn't spring center at all. It's either broken, or meant for operating a hydraulic motor.

If you think that's too much loader you should see an H with a Farmhand F10 loader.

I know its more loader than I needed but its what I could get a great deal on! At least having the loader underpowered I wont have to worry about breaking anything and I am not worried about the tractor as I will only be pushing snow with it.

As for the weights, we will see how the two sets work out...I might end up adding a third set as well. I used to have a 400 with basically the same loader and I had 3 sets of weights on that plus loaded tires!

Might I ask why I need a wide front? I have been around lots of nf tractors with loaders and never had any scares. It has always been my understanding that a wide front does not make a tractor any more stable/safe because the center of gravity is unchanged between the two... I was led to believe its just in your head/personal preference. Am I wrong?

You DO NOT need a wide front. A wide front will NOT add stability. Adding ballast (weight) to the rear of the tractor DOES add stability. For what it's worth, the owners manual for the #31 loader recommends adding 3 sets of weights.
