HV is a high crop tractor, search under tractor photos on the left and you can see the difference. Basically they have a wide front with tall knees and drop boxes in the back to raise the tractor up and give it more ground clearance.

thanks,,,,,,my h has the HV stamped very plain into the plate,,,but it is all standard,,,not a high crop,,,,,,not sure what is going on here,,,,,serial number tag looks original,,an the number indicates its a 1947,once again,,thanks for the info,,,,,charles,

There were nearly 400,000 H's made, and endless possibilities that would explain how that particular tractor ended up with an HV serial tag.

It could be an HV that was converted back to a regular H using a few salvage parts. Do the axle housings have flanges on the outside end?

It could be a regular H that had its back (torque tube) broke, and was repaired with parts from a salvaged HV. A torque tube transplant would also transplant the serial tag unless someone was careful and switched them.

About $3000 to $5000 more for the HV when you sell it.

I don't know that just a serial number would be worth that much more. If it was still a high crop, yes. Now that it is just a plain old H with a HV serial number it isn't worth much more.
