Where'd My Engine Oil Go?

I have a "42 H that was put up for winter back in December. The oil level checked full when parked indoors. No leaks or anything else was obvious. pulled the tractor out this afternoon, checked the oil and noticed it was low. Refilled with fresh 30 weight. It took more than 1 and 1/2 quarts. Where"d it all go?

If you haven't run the tractor, either you were mistaken when you checked the oil level in the fall, or it has leaked out and you just haven't found the oil spot yet.

The oil can't just disappear, and on an H it has nowhere else to go but down.

IH motors have always had a real nasty habit of plugged at the oil drainback holes in the head.

Does it have petcocks in the oil pan? Could you have checked the bottom one in the fall and the top one now?
