SMTA Auction Price

Just saw a pretty SMTA sell at an auction in Annawan, IL today for $12,000... I'm not sure sure it was [i:b2cb762cd5]that[/i:b2cb762cd5] pretty.

Ugly ones sell for $5000, it doesn't have to make sense. I had a chance to buy an ugly one for $3500 a couple of years ago, but someone bought it while I was thinking about it. I consider $12000 for a restored one to be a couple of thousand too high, but restored MTA's are out of my price range.

The market started falling apart at the fall Mecum sale last year. Go take a look at the prices there. The first day they were selling for just under 10k and by the end you could get a restored SMTA for $7000. If mine was just a SMTA instead of a family tractor I would have sold mine in a heartbeat and bought one of those. There is no way you could fix one for that.

That wouldn't have been one in the Overbrook area would it. It had been in part of my family since new but I just couldn't swing it.

I don't know who the previous owner was, but the guy giving the info on it said it sold at the same auction 3 years ago...
