Hello: Well, today I bought my first tractor ever, a Farmall C that is either 1948 or 1949. It runs nice, everything seems to work fine. I don't have a manual, what kind of engine oil should I use ? Also, what kind of hydraulic oil should I use ? Do the PTO and transmission share the same housing ? If so, what kind of oil ?
Thanks !

Kevin

in tennessee, tractor supply has owner's manuals for $30 or so. borrow or buy one, it will save you money and repairs.

Those are I&T service manuals that briefly cover repairs of the letter series. They also have separate maunals for later tractors. They do not contain essential information only found in the IH Operators manuals. They are good supplements to the IH service manuals.

Look for an original or reprint of the operators manual. I bought one off e-pay 16 months ago for less than $15 - only problem was one of the staples had torn through the cover - other than that is was perfect.

It provides everything to operator would want to know - and then some.

i use 30wt in engine and touch-control and 85-140 in trans the engine takes 5 quarts the trans takes 4 3/4 gallons without belt pulley and 5 gallons with belt pulley 8 1/4 pints in a dry touch-control system
