McCormick #31 loader tips n tricks

I just picked up a mccormick #31 loader that a fellow previously had installed on a farmall m. I wish to put it on an h and run it off the belly pump. Any tips, tricks, or suggestions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. looks to be pretty straight forward, but there is always a trick to make something go a bit easier. Thanks in advance for the help. Kippster

You'll need spacers to go on either side of the front upper bolster. My 31 came off an H so it had them already. Don't forget to remove the muffler before driving the tractor into the loader, if you do it that way. They are pretty simple.

Thanks Zach. Do you have a pic of those spacers so I can make a set for my h? I can fab up most anything in the shop, just need to know what I'm making!! haha. thanks again. Kippster

The spacers are supposed to already be there, but if the loader was mounted on an M, the spacers would be on the OUTSIDE, and when you mount the loader on an H, those same spacers are then placed on the inside. I did have a picture. I'll hunt for it.

I have a set and I probably won't need them. I may be selling my #31 to a fellow on this board and I believe he is putting it on a M. I'll know after the 8th of April. If the loader doesn't sell, I may be using the loader on a H. My email is open.

That spacer doesn't look like Rusty's picture so somebody will have to clarify the situation. My brackets may fit something else but they do bolt to front of H or M. Maybe they fit corn picker or cultivators.

What you show in the picture is not for a #31 loader. I don't know what it is.
The picture I posted was scanned from the #31 owners manual.

Thanks to everyone who posted pictures and helped me out. I'm sure I will have more questions on plumbing this thing up so it will work, so thanks for everything!! I'm gonna try to get started installing it today!

Those cylinders are NOT two way cylinders!! The design is such that the front, or top portion of the cylinder is used as a reservoir to store extra hydraulic fluid. and the hoses FROM the top need to be Teed together, and then that TEE needs to be installed on the fill pipe of the belly pump.

The hoses from the bottom of the cylinders are plumbed into the hydraulic outlet ports. One on the right, and the FRONT port on the left.

Thanks so much for everything rustyfarmall. I sure
do appreciate all the help and clarification.

I grew up using a Farmall H with a #31 loader, and I now own what is nearly identical to that outfit. Happened to find an owners manual for a #31 at a swap meet many years ago, and from reading through that manual, I learned a bunch of stuff I didn't know.
