WWII Flightline Picture

Hi all,

I hadn't seen this one before and thought maybe some here had not seen it either:

October 1942. Kansas City, Kansas. "B-25 bomber plane at North American Aviation being hauled along an outdoor assembly line." 4x5 Kodachrome transparency by Alfred Palmer for the Office of War Information.

What do you think about that "tug"?

I was in charge of the construction for a storm water pumping station, at this location, that pumped the rain water over the levee and into the Missouri river. This was in 1988 when they built the new GM plant on this property. I noticed then that the old "bullet bunker" was still in place on the north end of the property. After all the guns were in place they would pull the plane down there and fire all the guns into the bunker.

Nice looking picture of plane and tug. The military used a lot of tractors and they used dual wheel Case tractors at Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1951 for pulling artillery gun carriges to and from the firing range. Once they were proof fire they were shipped to Korea.
Later on I was drafted. Hal

Pulling it with an I-4. There use to be a member
here on YT that worked for that assembly plant doing
that. May be him on it. Don"t recall his name now,
but he passed away years ago! You can see more of
them in the background if you look close.
