I'm getting serious into replacing all the transmission seals and hit my first problem. Looks like I need to remove the hub the wheel attaches to. I removed the bolts but it won't budge. I'm assuming it is held by 70 years of rust. Any tips for getting it off. Its a lot of metal to heat with a torch.

Those can be a real problem ive got one stuck and one day i will work on it. First i would spray with PB Blaster then nest day hit around the bolt holes with big hammer maybe even a maul something has to get it loose as you are corect its a pretty big area to heat with torch but that just be the ticket.

Which part can't you get off? Do you have the axle out of the final drive yet or is that what you are removing. Usually that can be removed by driving it out with a wood block from the inside after removing the nut and the lower pan. Removing the axle to replace the axle seal is another story. The outside bearing needs to be removed and it is pressed on the shaft. You need a hydraulic press and a bearing separator to press that off and many times it can come off hard. Need the right equipment. Roger

Soak it for a few days & with the bolts loose drive it around for a while. Figure 8's & use the brakes from one side to the other. Drive it like a rental.
