Looking to donate '48 Cub project to a Club

Hi Folks:

Several years ago I bought a very rough Cub (I think it is a '48). The engine was stuck, and the block was cracked, so I bought a fresh, re-bored block, piston kit, and had the crankshaft ground. It has hydraulics.

I'm trying to reduce my project load, and since I'm not going get to this one in the near future, I've decided to let this on go. I am hoping that I can find a club or FFA group that would like to have it, warts and all. They just have to haul it away. It is sitting in multiple pieces. If you're a young person who would like to have a "first" project, that would work, too.

I wish you were closer!

(I'm in Massachusetts.)

I lead a 4H tractor club, right now we're restoring a super A, and an IH 4 bar side rake.

We'll be finishing both of those within two months and looking for another project.

The tractor's mine, but the rake somebody kindly donated.

Even though you're too far, I would like to say thank you anyways. That's a good thing you're doing. It'll make a real difference for a few kids out there somewhere.

Not easy to get donations like that, especially with scrap prices as high as they are!

Very Generous!
Hope your Cub finds a good home and a bright future. The FWA makes it a Bear ;-)
Sorry, I don't qualify.

I wish we could find a way to get it up there to you. Just spread the word and maybe we'll find it a new home.

Thanks guys.

The super A's a 48 too - would have made a nice pair!

I'd make the ride in a hearbeat, but the sad reality is that wtih gas at around 4.00 a gallon... pulling a trailer down, and loaded on the way back. It'd probably be cheaper to buy a cub right here.

You know, working from home, I hadn't really given the high gas prices too much thought until right now. That's pretty depressing!

Don't forget there is a hauling schedule on the site (on your left) You may find somebody looking for a backhaul and get it up to you for a lot less than you deadheading down and dragging it back. Even if they could get it half way up the coast it would be an easy trip for you.

There are also broker websites that specialize in this type of thing. I don't remember any of the big names off hand, but I'm sure a quick internet search will yield good results.

That is a good looking Cub. Will make some organization a nice tractor.

Don't forget about the FFA kids too. Contact them. They typically restore these and raffle them off to make money to support future projects. It is a great way to give back to the kids that will feed us tomorrow and encourage them to lear about and enjoy farming.
