Trying to slide the wheels in on my 1586 - cant get the wedge bolts loose - I've heated and still am breaking sockets on them - anybody got any good ideas - kinda thinking that taking to a dealer would limit my frusteration

Once them wedge loc's set they can be a real pain. ya really need a 1 inch drive impact and a impact socket and a really big sledge and a couple good solid hits on the end of the axle and the TOOL

Like the Vet says, the big hammer is the what you need. . You don't use a tool though on a 15. I hit on the top of the axle right on top the end. John Deere guys always use the sledge on the end of the axle on their green ones. IH says you will damage axle bearing hitting on end of axle, John Deere says you will damage bearing hitting on top axle, go figure. Friend and I took them off a 5288 couple of months ago. The wedges them self came loose, it was the solid rusted threads on the bolts that gave us grief. Took a while to get them off.
