A friend of mine bought a 54 Super MTA diesel, and he knew the block was cracked. He got another block that has been magnafluxed and checked. It is from a 1955 400 diesel. It has the same exact part number except it has an R4 at the end, and the MTA block has an R3. What is the difference??

The "R" is a Revision level change on their engineer drawing. Who knows what the change was? Something was changed, maybe something very minute. Maybe not.
