ok i have a 1951 m it has bean compleatly restored and when i push the clutch in all of the way and then press in the left brake peddel the tractor makes a clicking/grinding sound. Does any one know what this means, whats wrong, or how to fix it? the brake drumes have bean removed to placed back oon the tractor and the clutch peddel has bean disconected and reconected so problems withe the cluch are posible. any usfull or factual info is welcomed!

'cause the paint's shiny!!!!! I, at the risk of offending some folks would like to point out that "Completely Restored" should only be used on a tractor or other piece of equipment that has been totally disassembled I mean TOTALLY as in there isn't any two pieces still bolted or pressed together, every piece examined and measured AND REPLACED IF IT IS NOT WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS FOR A NEW PART, then totally reassembled and painted as it would of been when new. I'm guessing that your tractor has been partially refurbished and it'll need some additional repair or refurbishment. If you don't get a similar noise when you push the clutch in and press the Right brake pedal I would think you have a bearing issue on the right side or something loose or worn in the differential. If I were trying to figure it out I think I would jack up the rear end both wheels off the ground engine off and start turning wheel back and forth using brakes and such trying to narrow down where the noise is coming from.

it has bean compleatly gone threw and put back togeter with parts that were worn out being replaced engine overhall and trany rebuild the tractor was split and clutch rebuilt the brake drums where in speck so i had the brake bands replaced and all new seals and gaskets allround so i want to know what is not "in-spec." or what needs adjusted because the ENTIRE trans has bean gone threw the dif. checked out alond with the gear sets but it sounds like some thing is a few thns off some where after the cluch i didn't know if the cluch is still parshly engaging, the problem isn't i took a pile of junk and spraypainted it, the problem is i have manny new parts and something doesn't line up.

The left brake pedal moves the long shaft going through to the left side of the transmission. It runs very close to the lower transmission rear bearing. Thing is, when you push the clutch pedal in that lower shaft should be stopped. Can you shift it into gear. If that shaft is turning you won't be able to get it in gear. I think you have a couple of problems and may have to do some serious trouble shooting. I could name several possible things but you better do some looking in there first.

the shaft does turn a little bit when the cluch is pressed but it will shift into all of the gears, how do i fix this?

Do you mean lower transmission front countershaft bearing and Liftall Drive shaft? If so the holes could be ovaled out in the casting/shafts worn such that it is dragging when twisted (normal when left brake is applied). The clutch pedal does not turn the shaft, it turns on the shaft. (part of this is clarification to the post. Jim

I have read that original post over several times. If you push the clutch pedal in with engine running, how is he getting a noise anywhere by just pushing the left brake pedal. That is why I asked if he could get it into gear. I neglected to add, get in gear with engine running. The tractor should not be moving with clutch in. So, I assumed he meant it was in neutral, not moving forward and when he push's the left brake it then makes a noise. The left brake pedal is keyed and clamped to the shaft running across to the left side of the tractor and the clutch pedal also pivots on that same shaft. I have seen a counter shaft break inbetween the pressed on gears and force the shaft to the rear and that again pushs against that rear bearing forcing it up against that cross shaft the brake and clutch pedals are mounted on . After reading his diagnosis I have no idea what is going on. Could be a dozen different things. I would need a different version of his problem to make a reasonable diagnosis.

Since both pedals are on the same shaft, I would first check the bushings for that shaft in both sides of the tranny housing. They either need lube (grease) or one of the spacer machine washers was left off causing either pedal to rub against the tranny housing. This would cause the 'click" noise, had the same issue on a 46 H that drove me crazy until I replaced the bushings, had the shaft turned & clutch pedal rebushed to match the shaft.
The grinding noise you will need to checking your clutch pedal free travel at the throw out bearing, sounds like when the pedal is released the forks are either still contacting the throw out bearing ( rubbing) or the set screw on the clutch pedal needs adjusted also.
Best I can come up with.
