Hydraulics 1950 H

Well it looks like I've jumped into the deep end again. I just bought two tractors. A Farmall M, a 1939 model. and a 1950 H. The M is missing the Lift-all pump, so I'll look at the H for now.

Looking to get hydraulics working on this one. I was wondering if a live pump can be installed on this one if I get a Super H pump, and if I could use the belly pump as the reservoir. Also considering the Saginaw three point later on. Or just using the old belly pump for now.

You bet you can put a live pump off from a SH on your 50' H and use the lift all as the resevoir. Your H being of a later vintage might already have the hardened distributor drive gear that is needed for a live pump installation. (Not sure what the S/N break is for the new style gear).

A lot of guys on the board have done this one. You should get plenty of help from these guys.

Billy said the important thing, that later H's had the updated front cover and gear. I had mine torn apart before finding this out.

I have a front cover that I would like to get rid of if you need one.

I have a question. Can you put a hardened cam gear on an older H and not have to change the front cover? Are the later cam gears wider, and that is the reason for changing the cover? I have three H's 45, 47 and a 50 and would like to put live hydraulics on two of them.

I believe the modified cover comes with the hardened gear,
and the pump will not bolt up. That's my story based on what
I know.
