Hi, What size tap is needed to clean out the threads of a farmall H and farmall m exhaust manifold? Thank-you, phil

2" NPT tapered pipe. Rent one or find a person that will let you use it. (or for shell shock, price one!) Jim

Rumor has it you can cut a couple slits in a pipe and it will clean up the threads.

It will if the original pipe unscrewed from the
casting. If it fell over and wallowed there it will
require a tap. Too many times. Jim

You need a 2" NPT male tap. I have a greenfield I bought 10 years ago that cost me as much as a new 14.9x38 titan tractor tire at the time. I charge $25 to tap a manifold and it has to have all the rust sand blasted out of the threads first.

You might be surprised, ask around. I just happened to ask the man who did some welding for me, where I could find the 2" tap, he said Shoot, I have one, I'll do it for you.

i did this i cut a few lines in a piece of 2" pipe and used it like a tap, us lots of wd 40 and back it out and clean the groves out and you will be good but if the threds are rusted out and compleatly gone then this probably wont work
