Super C clips

Before I put the gas tank back on the C after the overhaul, I have been wondering what the two clips were for. The flat one at the bottom of the picture is attached to the touch contol box lid. There has been something sliding thru it. The "v" clip is attached to the right side of the steering post. It is right next to the hole in the tool box. Thanks.

Rick, those two items you identified are where the fast hitch release hook is stored on the tractor when not being used. The hook is used to unlatch the locking blocks on the fast hitch so you don't have to get off your tractor. Your tractor must have a fast hitch or at least built during the period when they were offered most likely in 1953 or 1954. If you are missing yours reproductions are sold through many sources and easy to find, hope this helps, Hal.
 
The hand crank stores on the transmission cover and through a hole on the front side of the seat base or toolbox, Hal.
 
Can anyone post a picture of the hook ? I"ve never seen one, and have a 100 and 200 both with Fast Hitch
 
There is a picture of one which recently sold on eBay. Do a search on completed items for item no. 260965181910 as "rediron40" in Iowa recently had one sell for $18.50. He usually always has one listed (reproduction I would guess)but doesn't at present. Hope this helps, Hal.
 
Hal, thanks for your reply. I kind of thought that was what it was for. I do have a 53' with the fast hitch. I do not know why you would want one. It will take all the fun out of crawling on and off the tractor! :)
 
Rick, You haven't had enough candles on your birthday cake yet - I just blew out 70 early last week so need all the help I can find. I really do like my fast hitch and have found several implements for my Super C which are compatible with the hitch system. Take care and enjoy your tractor, Hal.
