Hey U old timers

You set the rear wheels to run down the center of your rows, If you planted 40 inch rows, you would set your wheels at 80 inches.

Bill has the answer. If 30 inch rows 60 or 90.
If it is a Farmall B your limited on adjustability. Some compromize is always a good idea. Jim

It all depends on your row width.2 x the row width is normal,ie:2x30"= 60";2x32"=64";2x34"=68";2x36"=72";2x38"=76",etc.unless you are ultranarrow, then you 'bridge'3 or 4 rows

So, Id center the drawbar on my 48 H, drive pin down through it into the grounf, an d with a tape, for 32in rows, 16in to each side??

You are making it more difficult than it really is. Center of drawbar to center of tire on one side = 32", then 64" between center of that tire to the center of the other one. That seems pretty narrow for an H, but you should make it. Your cultivator will be 16" from center of tractor to the center of the row on each side.
I would not worry too much about being perfectly centered with your tires, although that would be ideal. If you need it a couple inches wider for clearance somewhere, do it.

From the center of the drawbar to the center of each wheel should be the row width(or 32" in your case). This is probably nearly as close as you can set an H with the wheels dished"out". My '42 will measure 76" outside to outside with 12.4 x 38 tires with the dish "out" and the wheels all the way "in", so I'm guessing that is about where it is now. When the H was designed corn was planted in 38" to 42" rows so axles were designed accordingly.

Good luck with that. You can't get the tires that close together.

You would straddle TWO rows with the tractor. 32" from the center of the tractor to the center of the tire if you have 32" rows.

If I remember right 66" center to center was as close as would go with wheel dished out. That was a 41 H and the John Deere was set the same and cultivated both 30" and 40" with same wheel setting. Never had cultivators for the H and it left in 1984.

I measured and its 33in. Reason I wanted to know was, On the L side a log chain got wrapped around the axle and nearly took off the grease zerk. I thought if I had to move it out it would give me more room to use a wrench. Guess ill just have to shear it off as I cant get a wrench on it anyhow it seems and then hopefully use an ezy out to get it out.
