I just recently bought a 1949 M that has no brakes. I started lookign and it has disc brakes on it . I didnt think they had disc brakes in 49. How much of a pain in the a-- is it to replace or repair the brakes. thanks for all your help, Kenny.

Are they the ones with the 3 bolt covers???? These are hard to get parts for.I believe?(Just seen a set on EBAY couple of days ago.)

Those would be the afermarket Ausco-Lambert disc brakes. No parts available. Do yourself and the tractor a big favor and convert back to the original band style brakes.

I recently re-did the disc brakes that had been added onto my 1951 M and it was easy!

Take them apart and label each piece with a wire & paper tag. Take them to a brake & clutch shop and have them repaired -- new surfaces on the discs, if necessary, and turn the steel plates, if necessary. The cost may be the hardest part!

Mine were glazed over from over-heating and only needed to be sand blasted.

First, thanks for the information, even though it wasnt what I wanted to hear. I will pull one side off and see what I got . Again thanks .
