My 1972 Cub tector wont stay running without the choke pulled 1/2 to 3/4 all the time. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks, Kenny

Turn the fuel off and pull the main jet from the side of the carb. Use a copper wire, carb spray and compressed air to clean the jet and reinstall.
If this doesn't help, then you'll have to pull the carb completely and clean the discharge tube and idle circuit.

If cleaning the carb does not work, ensure the fuel line from the bottom of the gas tank of the sediment bowl to the carb does not have an obstruction. Over time rust and junk can gather and restrict gas flow.
I have experienced that on a couple of old engines, Farmall 300 for one.

remove fuel line from side of carb. you should have a stream of fuel about the size of a pencil. If not clean tank, lines, shut off etc.

if you have plenty of fuel to carb, then clean caarb.

If none of the other advices given help. Remove the tube fitting where your gas line connects at the carburetor and look for a screen behind the tube fitting that may be plugged with dirt or rust or both. Hal

Check for an air leak either where the carb attaches to the manifold, or maybe the body. Also valves can cause the problem if one or more are burned.
