350 D,picture

Here is a picture of an oil pump off a 350 D.Does any one know if the gear on the end is supposed to just come off?Or does it have some kind of retainer.Because this one just pop's out.

From the pictures in the parts layout there is no retainer. caseih.com search for parts and service then scroll down to SEARCH FOR GENUINE CASE IH ORIGINAL PARTS then under the word Genuine select the red highlighted search for parts words. put in 350 then select utility tractor then scroll to diesel engine crankshaft and oil pump.
It should have some method of driving the shaft. A pressed fit would be minimal. a woodruff Key ? None are shown. Good luck Jim
 
no there not supposed to, but it was not uncommon to see a Continental drop a oil drive gear or chew the front timing gears up. My email is open if you have more questions.
