anyone know how much fuel a cub will use while running? i have recently bought a 1948 model.

the A, B,and C were sold on the promise that they would work on one gallon per hour and they seem to do that.

Nebraska Test of the Cub in 1947 shows:
.844 gal/hr - max load for two hours.
.664 gal/hr (average) - varying load for two hours

When I was a teenager, my dad ran a custom mowing operation using a Cub with a Woods 42. The Cub had been rebuilt with a governor from a power unit on a 50-T baler, and turned around 2250 RPM instead of the stock 1800. Dad had also drilled out the jet in the carburetor to compensate for the increased RPM.

We figured we could average cutting an acre an hour, and using a gallon of fuel an hour. And that included mowing stuff as high as the top of the hood on the tractor.

So a fairly stock Cub in good mechanical condition would use proportionally less fuel.
