Exaust pipe. Curved or rain cap

Needing to replace the exaust pipe on my 1466. I run a straight pipe with a rain cap. A friend has a new pipe with the curve on top and told me he would let me have it because he did not have anything it would fit anymore. My question is, will a 4" curved pipe keep rain water out with out covering it up when it rains hard? For over fourty some years I always used a rain cap but they do catch tree limbs, the reason I need to replace it now. Thanks Larry

I have a curved on my 1456 and the only time it sat outside in the field it rained and I remember starting it a few days later and had those little soot boogers raining down all over me, so apparently it let in more rain water than I wanted. I would think a good fitting rain cap would be better as you do not have to move your tractor in the rain so the curve is facing away from the rain:)

Massy used a lot of curved exhaust pipes, they also had a drain hole drilled in the bottom of the manifold to drain the water.
