i am in the process of finishing up the last bit on my cub and appreciate all the info about the alternator & have another question in refilling the read end & transmission does the oil journey down in to the final drives or is it like the model a & super a style where you have a fill plug to fill each oil pan. i didnt notice any plug's on the cubs final drives at all
 
Transmission oil and final drive oil are separate. Final drive fill plug is on the inside, to the rear on the left, to the front on the right as looking from the rear of the tractor. Oil for the transmission goes in on top, with the full plug on the left side in-between the case and fender.
If you have a mower mounted, the fill plug for the left final may be covered up by a bracket.

Edit: here is a photo of the final, the fill plug is in the lower left...

Steve, I have made a set of brackets for mounting Delco alternator on the Cub. You can check out my web site for more information charliesrepair dot com The picture shows the CS130 alt but the 10SI alternator also fits this bracket. Charlie

a manual is a good investment. if i had one several years ago, it may have saved me $$$$. cub fan shown, lubes through a screw hole.
