Just got a Farmall M

I just got this yesterday, it put up quite a fight getting it on the trailer, we went through 2 comealongs and 2 hours but we finally got it loaded.
I am going to part this tractor out, i need some parts off of it for another project. The tin is in bad shape, but the fenders are good, the engine is stuck, everything else seems good. I was told this tractor was running 10 years ago before it was parked, it has been sitting outside the whole time. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the toolbox looks original ? i have never seen one mounted like that ? i didn't know if this was a after market or someone just wanted a toolbox ? Judging from the wear on the steering shaft it has been mounted for a long time.
Thanks for any info,

Looks like the one I still use. too good for scrap. Are those split weights on the inside rear wheels? Never seen a toolbox like that either, but it looks like a nice job on it.

Whats your location? Some of us on here may be interested in parts or the whole tractor minus what you need off of it.

I have seen a couple of those toolboxes. They look to be quite handy! Not sure on make or originality...

Looks pretty darned straight to me. I'd think twice before I knocked it in the head. Plenty of salvaged parts already out there. Not to many restorable Ms still in existence.

Tool box is aftermarket. Almost seems like those were made right here in Iowa somewhere, or maybe Minnesota?

I can find a ton of parts off a Farmall M. But, I seldom see a Farmall M that can be reconditioned and made into a working tractor. Your's can. Your tractor can certainly be recondition by someone. Just think of all the work you'll save taking off parts and trying to sell them. Give the Ole Gal a chance to work again.

I agree it looks to nice to bone out, It looks to
have all the sheet metal except the little grill
insert for the cultivators, fenders, PTO shield and
wheel weights are there. The toolbox is aftermarket
or farmer built and kinda neat. Looks like all you
really need are service parts, some one would
probably trade you the parts you need and some cash
for the whole tractor

The bottom of the grill is cut off, and you cant tell from the pictures but it's really bent and pushed in.
The hood has a big crease across the top where it looks like someone pulled on it when one side was still latched.
the pto shield is smashed and has 2 broken mounts.
Everything is covered in a very think layer of rust and it's about impossible to get anything off.
Thanks for the tool box info

Yea... looks like a pretty honest old tractor to me, I'd at least have a go at making her run, You don't have much to loose, although everyone needs parts, they're easy enough to find elsewhere...

there seems to be to many people out there and on here that get a 95% complete tractor and go -OH its to hard , and then want to part it out , we are supposed to be tractor lovers not wreckers , fair enough to part out some thing that only 50% complete , but i read on here the other day of a gent who picked up a M that was missing a wheel so he was gonna part her out , again ithought we got on here because we all love out inter tractors thats why i look on here , we should be looking out for the best interest for the old tractors , not for our wallets , last i herd was they dont make them any more , STOP WRECKING GOOD TRACTORS

I do believe the belt Pulley is toast. The remainder is pretty solid. Many would be happy to start with that as a foundation. Look at those pearly white spark plugs, they look perfect! Jim

That thing looks great! It looks better than the one
I use definitely better tires' put some kerosene in
the cylinders and get her goin again. Nice old
tractor

Mine looked about the same 13 years ago. Now the old girl is
in good shape, used her today. Glad I put a little into her.

Your toolbox looks just like mine, which came with on M when I bought it 23 years ago. I'm also in Iowa.
