I doubt it. It has been a labor of love, you will not get as much as it cost you to restore the units and your personal sweat will be free. In this market people are not willing to pay what it cost to complete a reasonable restoration. No one should be in it for the money.

lmack: i respect your reply, i bought it all redone for a little more than thinking of selling for, so, no lost labor of love,,lol

This is always a "touchy" subject about what our old tractors are worth. I am sensitive to it also.

It seems to me this is how it is.(Correct me if I am wrong.)

If it is a RARE collector, low mumbers. It is worth a TON of money. But more common,BIG number tractors are about what they were worth when new.(Example:Farmall M is about the same money as when new,IF it is in good, working shape, tires,NOT all beat up.

If you take this SAME,"working" M and FULLY restore it,it doesnt seem to be worth any more money,You kind of have to "eat" all your labor.I HAVE seen some SPOTLESS ms bring quite abit, but ONLY because the guy buying it DID NOT want to restore one,but just REALLY wanted one and had expendable cash. Most guys I know will not pay anyone else to restore a tractor for them. That is half our fun !!!!!

If it is a NON working tractor(Engine froze, busted trans,SH!T tires,ECT)Its worth is price per pound at your local scrapyard. If this SAME tractor is parted out,It seems to bring about 2 to 3 times its original value??????Go figure????

I would say you W 6 is valuable as a GREAT SHAPE,WELL cared for tractor. What did these sell for new????

I think that is on the hight side, but you never know. I think a lot of the crap on CL is on there so long because people put it on there for way too much money. I just bought an H that was on there for 55 min before I said I would take it. Fair price and a good deal and it was a done deal.

The reason that a parts tractor is worth so much more parted out is because each part may be sold to a different person who actually wants it. Buying a parts tractor is like buying wholesale, you get a lot of parts at a reduced rate, and when you sell them again one at a time they are going to people who actually want that specific part and not the others. It is too bad that restored tractors bring so little, but I am also grateful that I can still buy a Farmall H for around $1000 and do a few repairs and have a decent tractor to use for work without breaking the bank.

I wouldn't take much less, that's a nice tractor. I wouldn't limit myself, advertise anywhere you can.
I have seen prices all over the place, if you have the time & patience and don't need to sell real quickly I am sure there is someone out there who would be very happy with it.

My father used to buy used vehicles & fix them up to sell, he always set a price & stuck to it, someone would try to low ball him & he would just keep going up in price. They would ask him if the original price was still good, and he would tell them no, it was good 15 minutes ago, I think this conversation is over, and he would leave them standing in the driveway.
He never had to hold onto anything TOO long, maybe longer than he had planned, but eventually every one of them sold for what he was asking..

B Farmall explanation more money than brains? Some times people get the gotta haves or are tired of shopping and might do something that doesn't make sense. Value of parts tractors, yes you might get 2 or 3 times scrap value out of it, but you have to haul it, disassemble it, store the parts, market the parts, deal with people, many of which may be of low scruples that will try to scam you, beat you down on price, want you to deliver, want you to take the old or other parts in trade. In short you will have labor, expense and carrying costs on a part out, it's not money falling from trees. As much as it pains me and goes against the very fiber of my being a lot of times it does not make economic sense to fix stuff. It is real easy to get more money tied up in something than it is worth. Don't hang me- I like fixing stuff and I am not criticizing those that do but you need to understand spending $3,000 to fix a tractor worth $3,000 is an economic loser, to be rational you need to understand the entertainment or sentimental value in your hobby, and the new owner isn't going to pay for your fun or might not care it was your dad's tractor.

I'll say that if your tractor had a new correct silver seat and battery box on it I would think it should bring 4000 dollars here in this area...The photos don't show the drawbar and the rear platform area but I presume the fenders, platform, drawbar and pto shield are complete and in good shape.

That is what I am saying as well!!! Unless you find someone with excess, expendable cash willing to pay WHATEVER the amount,Then these tractors are only worth so much to a potential buyer.

They hold about their value as when they were new!!! (UNLESS,you are 1 of 86 IH Super M TA Diesel HI crops EVER built that is sitting in South America STILL wating to be sold for $11,000.00 WITh a FIRM,STANDING offer of $11,000.00 B U T got relisted on EBAY for $10,500.00 A N D, still NO BIDS!!!!! ROF LMAO !!!!!!)

Who says there is. No money in old tractors? On C/l's list old beat up 8N's go for $3K. A typical H with no fenders, no lights, needs tires, and 'ran when parked' will bring $2K

I've seen them "priced" this way, but they usually show up later priced for less, or it never sells. No "typical" H in that condition will bring $2K anywhere that I know of. $800 is about "typical" for them... $1000 to 1200 if they are running.

How do you know they actually sold?

Unless they renew the ad it will fall off in 30 days. That doesn't mean it sold.

You can ask whatever you want. Doesn't mean you'll get it.
