I know it is the same motor, but what are the pros and cons of it if you use the 660 radiator and fan for cooling, has anybody done it, would it hurt the value of the 660, thanks

Very same engine, even same fuel setting, 660 pump just set for 2400 full load RPM instead of 1800 on 560.

There is a difference in rpm's of the 560 vs the 660 so are the transmissions the same or did they make changes to gears to offset for more rpm's in the 660, and also the 660 had taller tires, so if you put the 560 motor in an not speed it up will it be a dog !!

the 660 also has planetaries on the rear wheels. i run mine lots of times in the field at 1800-2000 just to save on fuel as no sense running at 2400 when not needed. if i encounter harder pulling i just giver more throttle. as for the t.a. i dont even know its there, never use it. pull a 5/16 #770 ihc plow in 2nd gear no problem at 2000 rpm.

The extra RPMs in the 660 are offset by the planetary gears at the rear wheels.
It won't be a dog. It will pull every bit as good as a 560, if not better. At 1800RPM it will be about 25% slower than a stock 660, is all. Just run one gear faster.
You're not going to be full-time farming with this tractor, right? So who cares if it's a little slower than stock? It runs, it drives, it pulls implements, it looks good. That's what counts.

If you change the spring in the injection pump to the 660 spring, the 560 engine will run 2400 rpm.
You could also check if the two tractors used different camshafts. I would think IH would have tuned each engine's camshaft differently to get the best torque and fuel economy at 1800 rpm and at 2400 rpm. It doesn't matter much if you won't be working the tractor to hard.
Early 706 used the same engine design at 2300rpm and 2100 rpm at PTO speed.
