Trying to carry a fire extinguisher. It's 5" diameter, 4 1/2#, 2A/10BC. Just in case. Has anybody else figured out where and how to mount one??

I have no experience with a Farmall H. In general a fire extinguisher should NOT be mounted near parts of the fuel system or near the engine. It is hard to grasp an extinguisher that is engulfed in flames. HTH, Hendrik

I have thought about that too, but so far I have only carried one when I was baling hay and it was on the baler. I was thinking of mounting the bracket on the seat post, but I didn't know if a stock extinguisher bracket would hold it when driving on bumpy ground. I was thinking then of putting a sort of can or sleeve that the extinguisher would drop into on the platform near the seat, maybe using one of the transmission housing bolts through the bottom of the can to hold it in place.

How about on top of the PTO shield, or above it?

First thing you're gonna do in a fire is jump off the tractor. Then the extinguisher is right there, ready to go.

I"ve been to a few events that require an extinquisher. They are open tractor events and if a John Deere or a Case burst into flames it is nice to be able to put it out, not so much to save the other tractors as to make sure no one gets hurt.
I"ve temporarily strapped an extinquisher to the seat with tie straps, but am considering mounting one to my H frame, oposite side from the carb.

Lots of tool boxes get mounted on top of the PTO shield. Don't know why you couldn't mount a fire extinquisher there.
