The block is cracked just below the water jacket cover. Someone welded it but is still weeps a little. Took the cover off and you can see the crack inside. does not appear to be letting water into the cylinders and it runs ok. I imagine it will only get worse with time. Could I get a motor from a H and install it in the I4. There seem to be a lot of old H's around or maybe some one has a spare motor Thanks for looking at my post

First i would gring it down smooth and get the area nice and clean then get some rubber cement that the body shops use when installing windshield. Apply a nice coat over the weld and you could use a trouble lite or a hair dryer to help cure. Give it good ample time to cure and it will probably outlast you. I have used it on a couple of Bs and that was many yrs ago and it still holds. Sure is worth a try. The stuff comes in a blue and black tube. Your leak doesent sould like a huge one where water can pour out fast cause you said weep. What do you have to lose just a little time.

To the best of my knowledge they are the same motors. Probably have different mounting plates.

I would V groove out the weld and take it to a welding shop. They will reweld it better and it won't leak. I wouldn't screw around with caulk myself if this is going to be a restoration tractor.

With a little time you can use a stiff brush and the rubber cement will be pretty hard to see. Now how are you going to make the weld look original if looks are that important.

Yes, the engine in an H is identical except for the front cover, and the covers will interchange.
