The jewel light is a small bulb with a red lens located in the reflector of the large light. The knob on top of the large light lets you select between the red tail light when on the road, or the large, white work light when in the field. The rear light comes on when you turn the headlights on. If you have no need for a red tail light, then the rear light can be the same as the front headlights.

Rusty is correct, the rear light comes on with the switch in D or B position. It is not attached to the same terminal as it is always given full voltage, not dimmed voltage that is associated with the headlights. You are welcome it is always fun to assist getting it right. Jim

I might add that the original REAR work light DID have a different lens, but that lens is obsolete.
