Gotta love the light bar toolbox/beer holder. I need to get me one of them. And your right. It was cold and windy today but I still took mine fore a ride just to relax. Nothing like the sound of a 70 year old tractor firing up to get your blood flowing.

Looks like your mountians were blue LOL. I always take a ride on one of my old girls if i have a rough day. Always makes me feel better.

I got my 6 IH tractors out today and exercised them all. It had been 6 months since some of them had ran. No dead batteries, but a couple other problems cropped up. Fuel leak on the MD at the water trap bowl. Looks like the new gasket I put in there a couple years ago has been eaten up by the diesel fuel. I believe it was an original IH part too. The IH 140 which has fluid in the tires (It's a working tractor) has a bad valve on one of the rear tires which so far I have not been able to get off to replace. Hope I don't have to go to the tire shop!! These old tractors are amazing!! They all started right up and ran great, even after sitting for 6 months.

I sure am glad that I'm not the only one that goes on a tractor ride once in a while. Sometimes I wonder what the neighbors think of me out goofing off with the tractors when it isn't even farming season. Let them think what they want, I guess.

Keep on having fun with them old tractors! -Andy

I didn't drive my 240U around, but I did start it up a couple days ago and let it run while I was putting a new tire on my wheelbarrow. Then cycled the loader and bucket cylinders to circulate the loader hydraulics, and cycled the 3 point, just to keep things loose.
I added one of those battery cut-offs a while back because the battery was dead, after sitting for about 4 weeks... don't know where or why it might have bled off. Battery is less than 2 years old and generally stays up longer.

Grading my own "private" road. When I am done,I am STARTING on beer#3.

As Always: I DO NOT promote operating ANY kind of machinery under the influence!!!!

Do not drink and grade!! ;)

Why do they keep putting drink holders on things if you are not supposed to drink while driving?

well they DO make soft drinks.

... I don't know what you do with them though. :?

I understand Coke will clean battery terminals.

Actually I don't drink very often it just seemed like a good wise guy answer :)

Again,I DO NOT encourage ANYONE to drink and drive!!!! Dont even drink a few and drive up the pubic roadway!!! Just ask George Jones what happens!!! lol

But,He was on a John Deere when he got busted!!!! Had He been on a Super M,The officer would have been SO facinated with the machine he probably would have let him go out of respect for the Farmall!!! lol

BTW,I only drink about 2 while grading the road ONLY!!!! (SLOW work!!!!)

I will not drink ANY while Bush Hogging, plowing, or any other rough operations.I COULD NOT even imagine falling off the back of this tractor and being "disked " under !!!!! My dad told me horror storys as a kid about a man who had his plow "dead hooked" to his tractor.(Chained solid to his drawbar.)Plow hooked a root, tractor turned over on him and killed him!!! Scared the SH!T out of me hearing that! Gotta be alert ALL the time!

Boy, things have sure changed. I found out that a 12-pack of Miller in bottles fits precisely under the steering column on top of the gas tank on a 'M'. I had nothing better to do after delivering some hay so I drove through scenic N. Olmsted Ohio to get back to the farm. 17 years old, driving through town, enjoying some beers... try that today, they'll put you UNDER the jail! But we sure had some fun when we were kids

you would be surprised at how many folks on these forums say that you cant flip one by hanging a plow under a root! Ive given up arguing the point, hate to hear guys telling ones who have never plowed how to defeat their break away hitch though..I dont drink any hard stuff anymore ( was getting way to fond of it) but i wouldnt own a tractor without a place to hang a coffee thermos and cup!LOL

You can.My dad wouldnt lie to me!

Like I said though, the plow was chained SOLID to the drawbar.I think it was an older model plow than what I am used to.My #16 has a really functional breakaway.
