1586 - looking for advise

Took the PTO out on my 1586 - gonna replace the o rings for draft sensing as they were leaking. I pulled out the pto and reached in and found metal shavings - this tractor has been great for me and I never had many issues with it - however this scares me - dont really want tokeep it - I know there was some work done to it before I got it - should I sennd her packing or hang onto it - dont know how big of an issue it'd be - shavings are about 1/8 to 1/4 in thick in the very back none up to the front.

Remove the drain plugs from the axle housings and see if one or both have the pieces in them. It could be pieces from the planetary drive gears or bull and pinion gears.

I did that when I drained the oil - they were fine - looked a lot.
Better when I got the pot all the way out - basically just a film
of shavings and a couple pieces - talked to the previous owner
and he had the rear end shell out on him and thought the
filings were from anything that didnt get cleaned out otherwise
the back end looks like new
