MD throttle adjustment

Anybody happen to know the process of adjusting all the linkages for the throttle on an MD? I thought it went through the process in the owners manual but I cant seem to find it. Tractor runs great but the throttle is VERY stiff even after being lubricated. Thanks!

Did you take everything apart and lubricate it or did you just use oil/grease? My bellcrank ended up being frozen up pretty tight when I worked on it last winter. The other problem area was the big thing with the discs on the top of the inj pump side.

The service manual covers adjustment of the throttle. It is kind of weird and I don't really remember it all.

It is rather stiff, maybe 2 to 3 pounds of effort to move it. the issue is probably in the friction disks, but I would maybe take them apart to clean, but not loosen it too much. Mine was stiff enough to hold at a set position. That is my best answer. A repair manual describes the system well. Jim

from what i have encounterd is the stiffness is due to the shaft that fits into the housing at the friction disc's gets seized with rust. you need to remove the throtle shaft and clean it up and then oil it and put back together. dont oil the disc's. then adjust the disc's as jim says.
the other linkage adjustments require a manual.

also forgot to mension that there is a grease fitting there that should be checked, as many are just forgot about and thats why it rusts up.

Stiff is normal for the MD throttle. I spent many hours on one of these as a youth and that throttle took some effort to move. It's the same for the one I now have in my collection. The stiffness is probably due to the friction disk located in the mechanism on the side of the engine block. I think there is some adjustment on that, but if you get it too loose, the vibration is going to make it move.
